Physical and chemical properties: colorless oily liquid, combustible, and can be mixed with water. Soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, slightly soluble in ether. The boiling point is 235 degrees, the melting point is 20.1 degrees, the flash point (opening) is 21 degrees, the ignition temperature is 370 degrees, and the refractive index is 1.446.

Toxicity and protection: toxic. When the patient or the injured skin is drunk, anesthesia will occur at first, causing special pathological changes in the liver or kidney, and then sudden death due to paralysis of the central nervous system. The production equipment should be closed to prevent leakage, and the operator should wear protective equipment. Those with skin injuries are strictly prohibited from contacting this product.

Production process:

There are many ways to produce BDO (1,4- butanediol). The main routes are as follows:

(1) acetylene and acetylene (tourmaline) are used as raw materials.

(2) butadiene and acetic acid as raw materials for butadiene acetoxylation.

(3)Propylene oxide or allyl alcohol is used as raw material for propylene oxide or allyl alcohol.

(4) esterification and hydrogenation of maleic anhydride with n-butane and MAH as raw materials.
